BMIPL will present two posters at the 2015 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium & Medical Imaging Conference (NSS-MIC), San Diego, CA, USA.
The first abstract, “Joint Spectral Image Reconstruction for Y-90 SPECT with Multi-Window Acquisition”, was a collaborative work between BMIPL, UNIST and the University of Michigan. We proposed a new image reconstruction method for Y-90 SPECT to exploit all counts over a wide spectrum of Y-90 Bremsstrahlung. This new method outperformed a conventional image reconstruction method with a single energy band. This abstract is authored by Minh Phuong Nguyen (1st year master’s student at UNIST), Hanvit Kim (undergraduate intern at UNIST), Se Young Chun, Jeffrey A Fessler (Professor at EECS, University of Michigan), and Yuni K Dewaraja (Research Associate Professor at Radiology, University of Michigan Hospital) and will be presented at the Poster Session.
The second abstract, “Iterative Guided Image Filtering for Multimodal Medical Imaging”, proposed a new iterative filtering method to denoise PET or SPECT using anatomical side information such as CT or MRI. We showed that CT or MR side information helped to improve the performance of the iterative guided filtering of PET or SPECT as compared to other guided filtering results without side information. Moreover, additional structural information of CT or MR that does not exist in PET or SPECT will NOT affect the resulting filtered image much. This is authored by Se Young Chun and will be presented at the Poster Session.
